Preparing for your Urine Mycotoxin Test

Urine mycotoxin testing evaluates the presence of mold-related toxins in the body. This handout serves as a detailed preparation guide to help ensure accurate and reliable test results.

Because mycotoxins are commonly found in certain foods, beverages, and supplements, proper preparation is essential. This guide outlines what to avoid prior to testing and provides clear instructions for correct sample collection.

At Nourish Medical Center, we use urine mycotoxin testing as part of a comprehensive assessment for mold exposure and related symptoms. This resource focuses specifically on helping you prepare correctly and complete your test with confidence.

Important Preparation Guidelines

To reduce the risk of false elevations:

• Avoid specific foods and beverages for 3 days prior to collection, including yeast products, grains, aged cheeses, mushrooms, peanuts, corn products, fermented foods and beverages, certain teas, alcohol, nuts, and other high-risk items.
• Avoid certain supplements such as Saccharomyces boulardii and medicinal mushrooms.
• Collect your sample from your first morning urine.

The guide also includes considerations regarding glutathione, exercise, sauna use, hot showers, massage, intercourse, binders, fiber supplements, red yeast rice, and certain medications, which may influence results.
